The Center seeks to develop cutting-edge opportunities for exploring whole person care and spiritual health, both academically and personally, in the lives of those involved in providing health care. Through the use of various media such as internet television, web-based educational opportunities, and the genre of narrative found in many disciplines, the Center pursues various avenues to communicate the study and experience of whole person care and spiritual health to a variety of interest groups.
The Center for Spiritual Life and Wholeness announces with great sadness the passing of our founding director, Dr. Wilber Alexander, who quietly passed away Wednesday, November 16. Dr. Alexander founded the Center for Spiritual Life and Wholeness in 1996 (with Dr. Carla Gober-Park as his Associate Director who became Director in 2005) with the goal of developing the art and science of whole person care, a concept he introduced to the Loma Linda University Health campus in 1973.
Dr. Angela Kraft Cross performed a concert to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Wil Alexander, including a piece she composed called, “To Make Man Whole.” The concert took place at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 25 at the Loma Linda University Church

A Certain Kind of Light is a short form documentary film produced by Loma Linda University Health’s Center for Spiritual Life and Wholeness. This film explores the transformative power of story that provides the foundation of whole person care.
Told through the life of Dr. Wil Alexander, the audience watches him embody the value of story in relation to health and illness. You are invited to share in this experience and start a conversation about the power of story in your hospital, school, faith-based organization or community.
