In April 2016, LLUH hosted the first Adventist Bioethics Conference, a gathering of leadership from all five hospital systems affiliated with the Adventist church. By its conclusion the attendees overwhelmingly asked for the conference to be an annual event. To this end, the CCB will be responsible for planning and executing an annual Adventist bioethics conference. Each conference will connect clinicians, ethicists, church leaders, and healthcare administrators with national and international thought leaders in the field of bioethics. This conference will also provide attendees with networking opportunities with the goal of fostering innovative and collaborative solutions to common bioethical issues.

This year, the second national annual bioethics conference will be held at one of the facilities of Kettering Health Network in Ohio on April 23-24, 2017. This year’s conference theme will focus on improving coordination and collaboration in response to urgent ethical issues and will culminate with the inauguration of the ABC. The keynote speakers for this year’s conference include Ellen Fox, MD, Robert Macauley, MD, and Paul Ford, PhD, all of whom are nationally renowned for their expertise in bioethics (a copy of the flyer for the 2017 conference is appended).
